Has anyone else had the experience of selecting mpeg-2, and finding out later that a project has been rendered as mpeg-1?
I've had this happen several times recently.
This would be with both Vegas Pro 8.b and 8.c.
No. Have not seen this problem. Of course, you could easily choose MPEG-1 instead of MPEG-2 as they are right next to each other in the pulldown....is that possible?
Hate to suggest it -- but could be operator error.... THAT I have seen -- as they say, "I have met the enemy and he is us !"
Technically it is operator error but there is an inconsistency/bug.
If you render to any other format and then return to render again, the render dialog remembers your last chosen format, however with MPEG 2 the dialog reverts to MPEG 1.
Yes I understand the possibility of user error as the two are next door to each other.
I have had this happen on more than one occassion.
I have chosen mpeg-2 and ended up with an mpeg-1 render.
I wouldn't post my experience at the risk of looking foolish had it not actually happened, and happened more than once.
Ok. Point well taken. I'm not doubting that this could happen at all...but can you reproduce the error on your system? I mean can you find a veg or a condition of some sort where MPEG-2 renders turn out MPEG-1 files consistently? Or would you describe it as "random"...
