Mpeg 2 plug in

I have just purchased the mpeg2 plug in from sonic foundry hoping for better quality vcd's.

Why is the mpeg 2 encoder not available when I creating VCD's?

I have been able to create an mpeg2 file on my hard disk bur how do I get it on to the cd so it plays on my dvd player? Also, why has the mpeg2 movie been squahed horizontally?

I am a novice at this but am I being really stupid?

VCDs must be in MPEG-1 format. If you want better quality VCDs, use a higher bit rate when encoding.

SVCDs and DVDs are MPEG-2, but no Sonic Foundry products support direct creation of these discs. You may render a file in MPEG-2 and use some other software to burn the disc though.

OK, so I have got myself a SVCD burner but why does Video Factory make mpeg 2 files that are a different screen ratio to the original. It sqashes them horizontally!

That's standard resolution for SVCDs (480x480), but don't worry, because it'll look normal on your TV. In Windows Media Player, it'll look squashed too, but select View>Full Screen (Alt + Enter) and it'll look normal.

Sorry, but it doesn't. When I view it full screen in windows media player it's still squased and there is a black block on each side of the screen.
