mpeg 2 render

ive started rendering a small mpeg2 movie but for some reson it finished at 50 % and then started again??? why?

Sounds like 2-pass rendering to me. That's what happens on mine. It goes through the avi twice. Takes twice as long, but will give much better compression on mpeg encodings under 6000kbps average.
