MPEG 2 Render Sizes

What is the formula for Time/Size for MPEG2?

For example...I rendered a 130min mpeg2 file that used over 4gigs...therefore making a single DVD wouldn't work. For some reason I assumed you could fit two hours of mpeg2 on a single DVD. Is there a rendering option that I am using to cause a bigger file size?

I'm using the Main Concept MPEG Encoder...

Look at http://www.videoguys.com/Vegas_Tips/TTS01-07.pdf. It has a bitrate chart as well as the formula for calculating the bitrate.

i can only fit about 1 hour of quality mpeg2 on one 4.7 dvd, i capture my video in
mpeg2 format 720 by 480 with my all in wonder card but it stops capturing at 4
gigs for some reason , i looked for a setting so i could raise it but found none.

rambler,

4GB is the limit of a FAT32 hard drive. To capture a larger file, you have to convert it to NTFS (search Microsoft's knowledge base for instructions). VV4 should automatically break the capture into multiple files if necessary during capture.

Have you tried playing around with the optimization? I'm at a good three hours (so far) and the video looks pretty damn good.

Mind you - I'm just testing different Optimization rates just to see what the output is going to look like. But it doesn't look entirely too bad (so far).

Of course - I tried the lowest optimization setting and the output looks like crap warmed up in a microwave when it's full screen (the output...not the crap). But, I'm just checking out the lay....knawhaimsayin?
