MPEG-2 rendering issues

Just made my first video with Vegas 6.0a from our family's recent vacation and I'm trying to burn it to DVD. I select the DVD NTSC template when rendering to mpeg and start the process. It said it will probably take about 2 hours to complete so I went and did something else. When I came back, there was an error on the screen telling me that it failed and it didn't know why.

I took a look at the mpeg it did create to see where it failed and it failed right at the point where I crossfade between the end of one song and the beginning of the next (two tracks).

If that made any sense...is there anyway to make it better? I know that Vegas 6.0b is available but with a dial-up connection, there is no way I'm downloading it. I'll have to wait until I go to the library some time.

Thanks for any help recieved!

Oh, BTW, I changed two things in the template:
1) Render quality to Best
2) Change VBR to CBR at 6,000,000

Alright, so it's not the second song that screws it up. I tried re-rendering another mpeg file I had and it also stopped at 4:23 with the error:

The file such and such could not be created. The reason for the error could not be determined.

I can't create an mpeg file longer than 4:23...

Help!!!!

Are your drives formatted NTFS or FAT 32? If it's FAT 32, then I'm guessing that's your problem.

The video is only 6 minutes long, I figured CBR would work just fine...I'll try VBR.

Another thought. Where is your temp file set to save to? If it's C:My Documents (the default), that could cause problems. I have mine pointing to another drive.

I beleive there is an issue with V5.0d and V6.0a for CBR render. The issue has been resolved in V6.0b.

Thanks for everyone's help. Changing it to VBR fixed the problems I was having. I'll have to download 6.0b sometime this week.
