I know nothing about Movie Studio or whatever....It seems to be an earlier Vegas version that they sell as Movie Studio..Mmmmm So, I guess you can import MPEG4 into your MS4. Divx is usually compatible, but if you've got another kind of MPEG4 such as the excellent Xvid, I guess neither Vegas nor MS4 will accept it. So what can you do? - You can download a small application called AVI FourCC Code Changer
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=AVI_FourCC_Code_Changer
or you can use the Nick's Four CC Changer that comes along with your Xivd Codec (freeware).
With that little thing you can change the FourCC code from Xvid to Divx (don't worry the file will still be an Xvid - you won't ever need to change it back) and then the Xvid file will be easily imported into Vegas or MS4 (if Vegas ca do it, I'm sure MS4 can do the same).
Now, if you can edit or whatever this MPEG4 - I don't know. If it's impossible to edit your MPEG4 this way, one thing is certain: you can convert it to MPEG2 or even to AVI uncompressed and do your job. Please understand that converting videos will always result in some loss of quality.
