MPEG-4 HELP

I am running win xp pro and Movie Studio 8

I use Power DVD 7. to play my video files.
I just got a Digital Video Recorder and it records video files as MPEG-4

I can play them on my computer with Power DVD but I can not open them in Movie Studio 8.

Is there a FREE converter that will convert my MPEG-4 to something that Movie Studio 8 can open??
PS.............................
I would want to convert my MPEG-4 to anything that Movie Studio can open but I want it to keep the Audio Bit Rate and Audio FREQ the same as well as the Frame Rate.??? Any help will be greate

SUPER can export to many formats: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/SUPER-Download-23696.html
export to mpeg2 with more bitrate than the original (otherwise you will have much lesser quality than the original).

If you want truly lossless transcoding, you will have to use something like ffmpeg or avisynth to transcode the mpeg4 to Huffyuv or Lagarith lossless formats.

Why?? What are you looking to do if/when you get it into VMS? Cut commercials? If so, you may want to look at MPEG Streamclip. I haven't used it but others have recommended it.
