Mpeg and/or AVI splitter Joiner

I know that Vegas can but I believe it will but I'm just looking for a quick (and hopefully freeware) utility to join (and maybe split) either avi or mpeg files.

Does such an animal exist?

Usually I use Winzip for this, but you might want to try hjsplit. It quickly splits and joins just about any kind of file. Hope this helps.

TMP Encoder (free download) will join and split MPG files without recompression, (but not AVI files). It works very well.

VirtualDub will do both from memory and it is free but a little obscure to drive at first.

Ahhhh good old VirtualDub. Forgot about that swiss army knife. Funny already had it in my tool kit!
