Will it be able to render to DVD specs in a variable bitrate or will it be a CBR like the one in VV2? I thought Main Concept was used to convert AVI files after they were edited with no loss of quality. What actually will be used to convert an AVI file to MPEG 2 for use in a dvd authoring program. Main concept doesn't do that, does it? Do you feel your codec is even better than Main Concept's? I've been using theirs to convert my video & then ligos converted to dvd specs when I was using Premiere. I'm very interested in this new product & I want to know the facts because so far it's been impressive.
You'll have a ton of control in the new MPEG-2 plug-in, including:
Framerate, aspect, profile, level, field order, motion estimation, CBR/VBR, Non-linear quantization, DC coefficient, color primary, transfer, coefficients, VBV buffer, audio psychoacoustics & emphasis, crc correction, sector size, packets, video and audio delay, frame timestamps and more. This is an eye-popping array of controls, so you better do some heavy surfing on MPEG.org et al and get those MPEG-2 chops in order
After you mess with monkey with all of these settings and switches and create an MPEG-2 file that no machine in the unverse can play back (like I did), you can call up the DVD render template and create a great looking file that works with MyDVDit.
Sounds good. That's one reason I ended up using Premiere instead-the Ligos encoder that plugged in premiere had more settings as far as bit rate, type (VBR,CBR), etc. The other reason was being able to lock & unlock audio & video track from the timeframe layout & I found out from the beta that was also addressed in VV3.0! I always liked sonic's products & Vegas was more user friendly than premiere but those were the 2 features I needed that it lacked. Now who makes this Mpeg encoder? I never heard of Main Concept making one other than a codec? I'm ready for this so when's it coming out & what's the price on it?
I was curious as to if there will be any templates to render out SVCD format with the MPEG2, or if there will be the option to burn SVCD from the VCD option in the cd-burning area?
Will the VV DVD Template allow us to render the video and audio to seperate files? MyDVD (and DVDit) really require two seperate files to achieve any kind of acceptable performance.
It would especially be nice if the audio file was rendered as a Dolby Digital Stereo file (but I know... stinky Dolby has a HUGE license fee.)
