MPEG File Size Limitation??

Just switched from Pinnacle v9 Plus to Vegas Studio. I tried to render my first project on a HP 2.8 Ghz computer, 1 meg ram, 160 G hard drive, XP release 2, which was 1 hour 55 minutes. I kicked off the render to generate the MPG file for video and the WAV file for audio. The render of the MPG stopped with an error message that said that it stopped for an unknown reason.

When I looked at the MPG file with Windows Media player, it played OK, but it stopped at 1 hour 37 minutes -- the file size was 4.2 GB.

My question:

1) could the render have stopped because it had reached a file size limitation of 4 GB?

2) if so, is there a Windows XP function to increase the allowable hard drive file size that can be generated?

I hope this isn't a SVMS problem, I don't want to go back to Pinnacle.

You've likely hit the FAT32 file size limit. NTFS has a much higher limit, so you should convert your drive over to NTFS.

Here's a link to a microsoft article on how to perform the conversion:

This worked, I changed the disk file format from FAT32 to NTFS. I was then able to render the entire project with no problems.
