mpeg to avi

Hi,
Very new here.
What is best way to convert from mpeg to avi
I have some clips in mpeg and a friend needs them in avi.
I have tried rendering to avi and have seen some terrible video/audio syncronization problems.
Any help would be appreciated.

You might try the free program "Super"
