MPEG2

Hi gang,
Kinda new at this, and aplogize if these are "stupid" questions, but...

1. I know the final product looks great when played on my system, but what's the main reason(s) you all render to MPEG2 (when many players don't have the proper codecs to play these)?

2. Why would a video track not show up on a final cut that ws rendered using the default 3M wmv setting? I recently tried this to try and get the best possible file for play by Windows Media Player (due to #1 above), and although the track is there in VV, it didn't show up on the final cut (and I didn't have the track "muted").

2. The first thing I think of os maybe you accidently clicked the track mute button on the missing track.

1. Most people render to MPEG2 because they are ultimately going to put their movie on a DVD. If you only intend to put your movie on the WEB or other computer-only application, the wmv or Quicktime are probably better choices for you.

Thanks McGeedo. I could've sworn that the track wasn't muted, but I'll give it another try. And I'll take your advice on using MPEG2 for DVD. Thanks again.
