Mpeg2 file rendered in Vegas is re-compressed...

OK, I came across this poltergeist last night...Funny thing is I have a bunch of vids all rendered in Vegas with dvd template (custom bitrate at max 8000, av 6000 and minimum 2000) and for some reason DVDA wants to re-compress only one of them...Strange coz bfore I had DVDA I used Dazzle Complete and that didnt recompress a thing...Any clues or pointers??

Another question while I am at it...is it possible to have different audio streams (ie one vid pcm, another ac3 stereo and another ac3 surround) burnt onto the same dvd?

Thanks in advance for your help.

All the best
Paul.

Is your audio longer than your video? If so, DVD-A requires recompress to add black frames to the end of the video.

It is not possible to have different audio streams (without duplicating the video data on the disc).

Thanks for your reply sonicSDB: as always, Sonic Foundry support is excellent...(have had a chance to witness this with 3 different products...)

As far as the recompression of the video, I THINK the sound is the same length as the video since the MPEG2 was rendered as a whole from within Vegas Video 3 (WAV file for audio). It actually really surprised me when it warned me it was going to recompress the video, to the extent that I stopped the process an re-started, but sure enough, there it was again...A bit of a pain due to the loss of quality and the extra time in creating the DVD...

I may add that all the vids I am putting onto the DVD were all created within Vegas and using the DVD template with the variable bitrates as per my initial post...

Many thanks once again

Paul.

When you click on the file in the Media Explorer, what are its audio and video properties? In the Optimize DVD dialog (File | Optimize DVD...), what is the Video format for this media asset? If "From project", what is the "Project video format"?
