MPeg2 File Trimmer

Just wondering if anyone has run across an application that will do this;

I want to take an Mpeg2 video file that is sent to me, trim off some of the beginning, and the end, and save the middle part. What I don't want to do is re-render, or load into Vegas and tie up my machine.

I'm looking for something that I can use in a video broadcast environment to clean up spots that come in with a second or two black and the start and end, and then just save them.

Alternatively, I heard at one of the conventions of a product where you can take a big Mpeg2 file and mark multiple ins and outs on it, then press the GO button and it will create separate files of each IN/OUT. This would be handy in taking bulk feeds of content where I need only certain segments for air.

TIA

Fred

Womble has a free 30 day trial. It should do just what you want.
The registration costs $49 USD (get the DVD version because it supports AAC / AC3 audio).

I have both Womble and a program called VideoReDo and I use it much more often than Womble for trimming MPEG2 files. I found Womble to be a little buggy.

Been using VideoReDo for several years now and can't sing its praises enough.

If you do buy Womble, it comes bundled with a program called MpegVCR which is actually better for trimming the front and back off mpegs than the MpegWizard program.

Programs like the Womble ones and Video Redo are better than trying to smartrender in Vegas. This is because they will also smart-render the audio. Vegas will smartrender the video but decompress and recompress the audio each generation.
