MPEG4 for int-streaming

dvideo wrote on 4/20/2005, 1:45 PM
Need to clarify------------The best way to create an MPEG4 file for internet streaming is how? I'm using Vegas and only see the MPEG2 option. I've heard mixed feedback about using WM9, some saying that this is a type of MPEG4 file, others saying it isn't. I'd rather not use Quicktime and am wondering if anyone has information.

Thanks

He didnt like your answer. LOL. Its like calling a sales place and not getting the discount you want. So you call back and talk to someone else hoping for a different answer. LOL

yes -- and i should clarify that pmasters had the right answer also ---- we both are correct .. its just nit picking hairs ..

im not a huge fan of either wmv9 or (for sure) real media .. but they do stream well ..

personally i like Sorenson PRO better, but you can get that only in Squeeze and even then the best version of it on a mac :-(

Odd thing -- back in the days of Vegas 3 (maybe 4 also) , if you have Sorenson Pro installed you could use the Pro version of Sorenson (except dual pass) in vegas , now in vegas 5 and 6 , you only get the LE version no mater what ...

I wonder if there is anyway to change that - or it was just a mistake ..

Are you sure? I have Squeeze Compression Suite 4 and was able to use the Pro codec under V5. (Qucktime custom profile.)

They have a new update 4.1 that has considerably sped up encoding.

VEGAS - > go to QT custom profile and select s. 3 , go to configure and look at lic info --

it says "standard edition" and Multiple CPU, B frames , multipass, watermark and media key are all disabled .. it is also version 3.2 , not 4

I've been actually using a lot of 3ivx lately also -- its very good ..

3ivx is awesome. They are long way overdue for an update.

Under Quicktime Custom, I select Sorenson Video 3 and then configure and mine shows me the professional edition.
