mpeg4 rendering in plat 8

~the main thing i was looking forward to in my new plat 8 VMS upgrade (download) was the ability to render in mpeg4. however i didn't see that option when opened. is "main concept AVC/AAC (mp4)" the equivalent? if not, was i wrong to expect mpeg4 rendering?

The Sony and Main Concept AVC are mpeg4, yes. There are many varieties of mpeg4, so this is the h.264 variety (which is the best one). However, unfortunately the Platinum edition does not let you customize your export, only Pro allows that.

There is also MPEG4-SP (e.g. the .mp4 kind found on cellphones) and MPEG4-ASP (e.g. DivX/XViD). Vegas does not export in these by default.

Many videos end up on You-tube or Google Video and both prefer MP4-ASP (DivX/XViD) to preserve quality. Given these facts is it likely we will see an upgrade to Vegas Studio to provide this standard of rendering?.
