Mpeg4 Rendering Problem

Hello, I have two computers, one for editing & an older one for internet, DVD labels, etc. On my editing computer (which I've been using for about 3 years) when I render an mpeg4 I get glitches or quick horizontal breaks in the video (not throughout, just in some parts). This has not always occurred on this computer. When I render the same files on my other (older) computer the video comes out fine. The problem computer is currently running Vegas 9e 32 bit while the computer that renders ok is running Vegas 9c 32 bit. I have tried Vegas 7 and Vegas9c on the problem computer to no avail. As far as I can tell both computers are set up similarly and the mpeg4 render settings are the same. As a side note if I render to avi or mpeg2 on the problem computer the video comes out fine. Sorry to be so wordy, but this is driving me crazy because so much of my work needs to be mpeg4 for Youtube upload. Any help would be much appreciated.

This really sounds like something on your editing computer is interfering with Vegas, or the mp4 codec, or something related. Have you tried turning off all unnecessary programs and services, one at a time, to see if you can isolate the problem?

Also you might include your mp4 settings in your next post. That information can be very helpful in determining your problem.

Use task manager to turn programs and services off. Just be careful which services you do turn off.

If you are unsure which services can safely be turned off, go to the SCS website, and in the Vegas section, under frequently asked questions, (if my memory serves me) in another different question or problem, they list which services you can safely turn off, and which ones you need to leave on.

This will not damage, or alter your Windows setup; All you need to do, to restore your computer to where you started, is to re-boot.

Let us know how it worked out for you.

Good Luck,
Will
