Mpeg4 video won't display properly in movie studio

I recorded a video of my iphone using reflector, which saves the output in mp4 format. When I try to edit the video in Vegas, the preview and event pan / crop window do not display the video correctly. The video looks like a greenish colored scrambled up mess. I tried tech support, but my product isn't supported anymore. Can some one please tell me if there are some preview window settings that need to be changed.

Here is what I already tried:

Downloaded and installed microsoft codec pack. No good.
Looked to be sure frame rates matched.
Tried changing preview settings. no good.

The video plays fine in windows 8 media player. Anyone have some suggestions?

What flavor of Windows?

What QuickTime version?

What Movie Studio version?

Sorry about that. I am running windows 8.1. I have Vegas movie studio 11 hd platinum. I am using the built in media player in windows 8 to view the videos, not quick time. II am ruunning this program on a surface pro 2, but have also tried using my dell laditude with windows xp pro. I get the same result on both computers. Thanks for your help.

I think QT is only needed for .mov files.

Not sure what your problem is but if you download MediaInfo from the net and post the Text view results from your video file to see which codec was used to record it.
