mpg preview hangs on secondary monitor

Does anyone else have problems previewing mpg files on external monitor set to secondary windows display? Vegas 6c hangs for me when previewing MPG (mpeg2) files with external display set to secondary windows display.

I recently made a clean install of V6c and finally Media Manager worked fine. I use External Preview to secondary display, which works great to quickly show bunches of DV clips to a group of people, using Media Manager. A neighbor just gave me an 8cm DVD from her Sony Camcorder, to try burning over to a regular DVD. The Vegas File>Import>DVD Camcorder Disc worked fine. The mpg files previewed fine in regular preview window, and could be added to the timeline. When I turned on external preview to secondary monitor, and clicked on one of the mpg files in Explorer or Project Media, Vegas hung. I had to reboot, and the same thing happened repeatedly. Also on mpg (mpeg2) files rendered by Vegas.

When Vegas hangs, Task Manager shows it as not responding, but apparently not using any CPU. I could removed the Vegas app, but the Vegas60.exe process could not be removed. I had to reboot.

After several reboots and reattempts, I found that I could external preview the first mpg file fine from Media Manager, but clicking on the next mpg file then caused Vegas to hang. My setup is listed below. Does anyone else have this problem, or a likely solution? Meanwhile, I'll avoid the external preview on my mpg's.

Hmm . . another Vegas6c updating issue ( I have a list ) . . .

I had MPEG rendering issues, but that was due to my cooling system needing to be "cleaned". I am not saying this IS the same, but if you are trying to "push" vegas with some large CPU intensive stuff - needing Vegas to create images for external Preview from an MPG file - then maybe just maybe a look at your fan/s might be in order. Just a thought - yeah?

thanks . . Grazie

Thanks Grazie, but the hang occurs immediately on clicking on an .mpg file. Cooling is not an issue here. My Vegas 6c setup has been working great since I did the clean install (uninstalled all Sony/Sonic Foundry apps, deleted paths, cleaned registry, and only then began to install from scratch).

Correction to my original post: ZoneAlarm was NOT installed.
