mpg2 quality

is mpg2 always not as sharp as the original avi. I use a pana dv953.
In the AVI format it's crystal but when rendered to compressed mpg2
i lose the sharp image and the motion is not as smooth.

Is this always the case with this software? What are professional ala Matrix
rendered to? Is it AVI or MPG or something else on the dvd?
Can we get this type of quality. The dvd template does not rival the original avi. I would like it to be real darn close.

If anyone can help and give some advice on settings or explanations I would appreciate it.

hey.. i know this doesnt answer your question.. i seen you have the Panny camera.. i have a panny DVC 80 and i was thinking of buying another.. i have however been thinking about the dv953.. My question is this.. How do you like it?? My mainconcern is the low light ability.. I am doing weddings and the like.. is its lowlight capability too prohibitive for commercial use? what is your opinion?? Thanks

Small review possibly?? : )

Dude, its true.
This is not a good camera for low light. Flat out! I think the vx2000 is unrivaled for low light but costs lots more. For everything else its perfect and near flawless. But I would say don't get it if low light is a must.

I can send you a small mpg of low light if you drop your email to me
