MSP-12 Suite Freeze when adjusting video speed...

iiBetrayforAR wrote on 8/4/2013, 2:08 PM
System Specs:
i7 3770K
Maximus V Formula
4x4GB 1600 Mhz RAM
Intel 335 240GB (Program and edit files are here)
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 60MB cache (Raw videos, and rendered videos are here)
AMD 7970 Ghz
Windows 8 Pro 64 bit
And thats all that should be relevant.

I was editing today (I have only had the program for a few days), and decided I was going to replay a clip with a zoom in on the focus point of the clip, I did that, and then slowed down the speed of the video by CTRL trimming the end of it. CRASH. Did it several times over, same result.

The video is recorded by MSi Afterburner, 1920x1072 (IDK why it is that res, should be 1080 haha), 30FPS, MJPEG compression, and recording the game audio plus my mic audio. I'm running the latest Build 896 64 bit. If you desire more details, ask.

The program tells me this: "Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\Nick\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9A6C.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\Nick\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9ABB.tmp.mdmp"

Post your complete file properties using MediaInfo from Sourceforge.

Please use MediaInfo, a free download from Sourceforge. Thanks.

Sorry, didn't realize it was a program I had to download lol. First off I now hate that program it changed everything on my PC to Bing when I told it not to.

You want this?

Uninstalling that disgusting program, hope thats what you needed.

Sorry, it really makes me mad when programs do that, I swear I unchecked all that bogus.

I just installed a new version of MediaInfo last week, and no such issue.
It was easy to bypass the toolbar thing.
It wouldn't be on Sourceforge if it did what you said.

Asfar as the encoder, do you have any codec "packs" installed?"

Not that I know of... here are the setting I record with. Not sure what the MJPEG decoder does on MSI Afterburner. http://s1256.photobucket.com/user/xSWATxBadkid/media/MSISettings_zps712411e0.jpg.html
musicvid10 wrote on 8/4/2013, 8:19 PM
What other compression options are there in your program (besides mjpeg)?
iiBetrayforAR wrote on 8/5/2013, 4:54 PM
Uncompressed, RTV1 Compression, VFW Compression.

And did you see this in to OP?

The program tells me this: "Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\Nick\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9A6C.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\Nick\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9ABB.tmp.mdmp"

Not sure if this helps, or is utterly useless.

Would enabling the MSI afterburner MJPG decoder do anything helpful?

Like I said I have had this program for a few days, and I don't know a ton about video.

Files stored on your own computer cannot be accessed over the internet. It's a security thing. You're brand new to Windows, are you?

You do want VFW Compression, but you didn't share what other codecs besides MJPEG are available in your program. I guess uncompressed would work, but the files will be huge.

I don't know what that decoder does, but it can't hurt to try. We are completely unfamiliar with "MSI Afterburner," so only you can provide details. Obviously the Sony MJPEG decoder isn't doing the trick with your files.

Best of luck.
iiBetrayforAR wrote on 8/5/2013, 5:32 PM
No, I'm not new to Windows, where did I say I wanted you to access my files?!

Uncompressed, RTV1 Compression, VFW Compression, and MJPG are all it has. What is VFW compression??? And what makes it better than MJPG? I tried uncompressed, it sucked, the quality was worse than MJPG haha.

The files work, it seems to crash only when I change the speed of the videos. :/

It says VFW needs an external codec, so I need to download one, you don't seem like a gamer, so I suppose you don't know any good ones?

And now I just did what made it crash before and it worked. What the heck...
musicvid10 wrote on 8/5/2013, 5:42 PM
OK, VFW is the type of AVI compression Vegas uses.
Uncompressed is the highest quality reproduction possible, but it is not a playback codec, in any sense.
MJPEG can be dicey, depending on the encoder, so that's why I suggestedtrying an alternative.

I didn't know why you would continue posting file locations unless you expected I would somehow know what they were.
I can tell now after two head-butts, that we're not going to communicate effectively, so I'm hopeful someone else will be able take you further.

P.S. No, I'm not a gamer at all, but I helped produce a video tutorial that is currently in use by hundreds of Fraps users for converting game-capture to high-quality playable Youtube uploads.
Best.
;?)
iiBetrayforAR wrote on 8/5/2013, 6:04 PM
The files I posted are when MSP tells me when it crashes. I guess they don't help if you didn't recognize them lol.

When I hit VFW, a drop down menu of codecs, I suppose, appear as follows:

Full Frames (Uncompressed)
Cinepak Codec by Radius
Intel IYUV codec
Microsoft RLE
Microsoft Video 1
Fraps Video Decompressor
RivaTuner Video Codec

I'm going to assume the Full Frames (Uncompressed) or Fraps Video Decompressor would be best, but Im a nub so yeah.

FRAPS cost money and has less options that appeal to me, so MSI Afterburner is unbeatable for the price tag of $0.

Issues appears to have been fixed by enabling the MJPG Decoder inside of MSI Afterburner, for any having this issue.
