Did you use Device Explorer in Vegas (not Windows Explorer) to import from the card?

Thanks for the resposnse. It was while back in july , i think i use window explorer to import.

I did called sony and they told me to put the card back in camera do the repair but when i did that it wiped out the video, luckily i had the whole copied on my harddrive, First 20 minutes is OK, it is the rest of the file does not open.

If there is any software can do it?.

If you like I can email you small clip.

Thanks again
Chander

I'm battling this exact problem as I type this.

After recording a 30+ minute ceremony, I stopped my camera. When I switched it over to PLAY and review the files (2 were present), the camera said it had to repair one of them. I think I switched it to Play too soon after stopping the recording.

After the repair completed there was a question mark over the Thumbnail of one of the clips. Said clip will not play on the camera nor will it play in any media player or import into any NLE or Encoding software. Everything gives an error stating the file is either Not A Valid Video File, Unsupported, Not Recognized, etc.

I have since made a backup of the entire SDHC card and 'locked' it so it doesn't get overwritten/deleted until I can hopefully find a solution.

Please post back if you've found a solution that worked for you.

I always wondered about if there is a difference between formatting in the camera or from Windows explorer. I somehow feel more comfortable doing in camera format.

On a hike I was trying to conserve battery power by switching on, filming and switching off. Some clips were corrupted which I suspect was caused by switching the camera off before the file had been written to the card.

The other issue would be FAT32 limitation on file size. What does your camera do when that file size is reached? I've never test mine and maybe I should.

I did Google AVCHD file repair and there are many tools available.

The reply I got from aeroquartet.com is "The file "00001.MTS" contains no data at all. Like a book with empty pages. Therefore no footage can be extracted from it. So yes, this file is not repairable at all.[/i/]
