.MTS files

When bringing .MTS files to my timeline, I find Vegas 9 to be
extremely slugish. I've edited different types of HD files in the past
and not had a problem. How can I work around this? Is there a
parameter/preference that can be adjusted to allow the program
to read the files with more precision? Currently, i can barely play
through the timeline - the playback drastically jumps and skips.
Any ideas?
thank you.....

Do you have a fast CPU?
Do your project properties match your source footage?
The Preview window in Pro 9 now defaults to "Adjust Size and Quality for Optimal Playback".
This feature can be disabled by right-clicking in it and turning it off allowing you to set it manually.

I have a Quad Phenom with 4G ram and a 2G video card.

I just did my first multicam AVCHD test with MTS files.

If I only played one file with no effects, it was ok. During multicam, I had to switch to Draft/Quarter to edit in multicam.
