Multi-Cam in Vegas8?

I'm obviously not doing something right, but I can't get the multi-cam to preview video tracks side by side. If anyone uses Ultimate S's quad-cam, that is what I'm trying to do, but when I enable multicam, all I get is a blue highlight box plus some info on the clip...how can I adjust the view to see the clips playing simultaneously side by side?

Add the tracks to the timeline.

Sync them.

Select them.

Tools - Multicamera - Create Multicamera Track

Tools - Multicamera - Enable Multicamera Editing (to turn on/off the splitscreen view)

I was having the same problem, probably because I misunderstood the instructions. I was selecting using all the events and not track headers.

what I do is duplicate the tracks used for multicam, before using multicam on the originals

that way I have them combined for the vegas method, but also visible separately on the timeline, to preview upcoming events (as in Excalibur / US)
