multi-colored text overlay

The text overlay allows changes in font by blocking and changing the font. However, there doesn't seem to be any way to use more than one color in the text.

Alternatively, is it possible to have multiple overlays of text (perhaps of different colors) without having to use a cross-fade transition.

As far as I can tell, you can only have one color for text. However, you can have the text and/or background "morph" into another color by using the "Begin" and "End" tabs of the FX properties. Also, you could always bring in a multi-color text item from another application like photoshop.

VF only allows for 2 video tracks. Like you said, you could use transitioning to give the appearance of up to 4 text items on the screen, all panning in different directions. If you want more, you'll have to upgrade to Vegas or go through the hassle of multiple renderings.
