Multi-Track Fades

Help gentlemen,

I have multi-trac footage from a recent wedding. Stage right and stage left. I have aligned the sound patterns so that the tracks are in synch. What I need to be able to do now is fade out the upper track at key portions of the video, allowing the lower track to show through until I wish to switch back to the upper footage. I thought there would be a way of inserting an envelope that would allow me to fade a track in and out the way we do with sound levels. What am I missing guys.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Insert a track compositing level envelope.
Under Insert!

You might try inserting a third video track. Then, select the desired portions from the other two tracks, drag them, or copy/paste them to the third track. Use whatever FX you care to transition from one even to the next.

Make certain track three is the upper most track. You can mute the lower tracks when you're ready to render (see buttons at left of the timeline.

This works fine for me.

Hey farass, thanks. I am sure I could have figured it out eventually, but I knew someone in the forum has already been through this learning curve. From the exclamation point used in your response you seem to have been anoyed with the question. This forum has helped me along the way and many others I'm sure. So to those of you who occasionally peruse this forum looking for opportunities to gleen knowledge and to helps others I commend you. Thanks to all...

Try this instead, courtesy of "faruss's" comment. Insert a Track Composite Level envelope on your Upper Track. This will allow you to fade between your lower track at key points using the envelope.

Good Luck...
