"multi-track" wav files from Akai DPS16

Can Vegas handle these kind of files?

I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but any forum threads about this are sketchy at best. So, I'm hoping there's an Akai DPS16 user here.

Apparently you can export more than two tracks at a time as a multitrack wav file - Supposedly a .wav extension. Also apparently Cool Edit Pro can open them, but that's the only app stated as such.

If anyone here can let me know how this works, and if it does with Vegas, I'd appreciate it. I'm looking to pick a DPS16 mostly for tracking and as an idea pad - then dumping into PC to mix/master in Vegas3.

Thanks again!

Keith

I would think any .wav file Cool Edit can handle, Vegas can also. I assume they are probably in the 44-48K and 16-24bit range?

I believe Vegas can only handle mono & stereo (1 and 2 track) files. If your Akai will let you dump your tracks one or two at a time into individual .wav files then you should be all set.

This 'multi-track' wav file thing is really perplexing. No one seems to have a definitive answer. I may just have to pick one of these up and see for myself... ;^)

I appreciate both your comments. I'd also like to think VV can do anything CEP can do!

As far as dumping tracks goes... That's the way I'm doing it now. One track at a time! ... it'd be nice to dump em all at once!

Anyone from SF???

Thanks again guys!
