multi video and audio formats in one timeline

So, I got footage from my Mexican vacation and I wanted to compose a video. The problem is that, first of all I can't burn it to Blue, enough on that later. I had my Hdr Sr1, so .m2ts and two of my friends digital cameras, .mov and something else. The camera records in 5.1 and that's great only the cameras record in mono; does vegas have a surround, I don't know synthesiser/processor for lack of a better term, so that I don't need to copy and paste. I don't care if it's the same audio. Second, must I re-format everything in the timeline to the same format. These different files were added just fine, however, when I tried to render to blue it rendered and then the audio rendered, then freeze. Any suggestions?

1. To make a mono sound stereo, just right click in the timeline audio clip and select its left channel.
2. The freezing of BD burning is a known bug. You need to select the MainConcept codec in the BD customization screen instead of the default Sony AVC to minimize the chance for crashes.
