Multicam edit with color correction - workflow

I'm editing a 2 camera wedding for my niece. One camera was DV and the other was a VHSC camera. Expectations aren't real high but I'm trying to do the best with what was given to me.

I have the clips from each camera on the timeline and I did color correction at the track level on each to make them look as close as possible. The color correction settings are quite different for each track/camera.

Now I want to cut between each camera for the final video, but how's the best way to cut or crossfade between tracks? I know I can split the clips and delete what I'm not using, but I'd like to leave all of the clips for now.

How do I "hide" the top track so I can see the bottom track and still transition between the tracks? I tried track muting and can see how that may work but was wondering if there's any other tips/comments.

Anyone know of any multicam tutorials available?

I looked at Excalibur but am not sure how often I would use it after this. I'm doing the video for free, so I'm trying not to add any more expense to the project either.

TIA

But Excalibur does it so well!!!

Take a look at the newsletter article where I present four different methods for doing Multi-Cam work (including Excalibur). You can find it at http://www.jetdv.com/vegas under the Newsletter link.

It would probably be safer to put the color correction on the event. That way if you want to use a "Master Track" method, the color correction would be copied to the master track as well.

Excaliber does do it well. I have had problems in the past with color correction though.

Edward, by putting the correction on the event do you mean using the video FX on each clip? Previously I have had to (or so I thought) collor correct the track and render to a new track prior to the multi cam excaliber to keep the color correction in the master track edit. If there is an easier way it makes it all the better.

Yes, just add the color correction to the event itself instead of the track using the "FX" button on the event. Then the effect will be copied to the master track.

Thank you, this will certainly speed things up.
