Multicam project with multiple rendered output videos Requests/Tips?

There are 6 cameras for this weekly 1.25 hour event, but only 4 for 80% of the time (2 band cameras for musical part only). Obviously they are aligned in one project, and media FX is set. And proxies created for three 4k cameras. (I use separate instances of Vegas to create the proxies in parallel since each uses 30% CPU.)

One option is to edit as one project, and select each range to render individual videos. But having the 2 extra cameras does slow down multicam preview. Four cameras seems to be a kind of limit. With proxies it is an option, but it seems to make an easier edit to split into separate projects to focus attention. For example, each rendered video has to have a standard branding video at the beginning and end. So my question/wish list is for tips and enhancements to make breaking a project into multiple projects easier/faster.

  1. Selecting a range and using copy-and-paste to another instance of Vegas drops media FX and track names.

  2. Media FX is necessary with multicam because track FX is dropped. But there's no way to copy-and-paste or select multiple media in a mass edit. Some newer cameras produce one .mp4 file, but the ones that need FX (color grading) output 2GB and 4GB files, and theres 1.25 hours of event, so a lot of files to individually set media FX. Sure, I save presets, but it's still a lot of clicks for each one.

  3. So, making a cut at the beginning/end of each range to be rendered allows that range to be selected. The whole project is saved under the name for the individual video. Then that project is opened in another instance of Vegas Pro 15, and the other parts deleted, and the project saved. But it would be much easier if the selection on what needs to be saved could be reversed/inverted to select everything else in one click. Then the selected range is deleted from the original video, and the process repeated. It's a little scary that a save will accidentally delete a range that hasn't been saved separately.

  4. Once split into it's own video, the ones requiring the extra 2 band cameras have those tracks added and aligned before multicam edit.

  5. Selecting a lot of tracks with beginning/end points with the SHIFT key doesn't work well. The rectangle selection tool woks great, but I wish there was a shortcut key to switch back to the normal tool, versus opening that menu and selecting the top option.

  6. And I wish copy-and-paste didn't drop track names and media FX.

  7. And media FX could be copied.

Any tips or enhancements for this process will be much appreciated since I do it every week.

@Cornico Is there is a way to create a .veg file from a selection on the big timeline? I haven't used nested .vegs, but always assumed you built the .vegs separately and then combined into a larger project, versus building them from the large project. What menu is used to create a .veg from a timeline selection?

@Cornico, right that's what I'm currently doing. I just don't ever need a combined video. But it's been a little scary saving and going back to the original to save the next one and so on, because I'm afraid I'll accidentally save over the big one and lose something. So I think I'll do the splits in the big .veg, and then do "n" number of SAVE AS right off the bat, and then trim each .veg one-at-a-time. I was doing one clip at a time and going back and forth between projects. Just got to be sure the media FX, alignment, etc. in the big project are correct before the copying so they don't have to be done "n" times on each one! The right workflow is so important!

Vegasaur can copy media fx (only OFX effects are supported)
