Multicam software compared

I ran across a very interesting article in Digital Content Producer (May, 2006) which compares multicam editing in FCP, Premier Pro, Avid Xpress Pro HD and Sony Vegas/VASST. Discusses both the pros and cons of each system.

Vegas comes up smelling like a rose. Just what we would expect.

the fact that Most of Vegas' multicamming is done via scripting alows it to not only be the most flexible, but also the most non destructive.

and the fact that its free from Vasst (for the 2cam) is even better

I've been using Ultimate S 2 for some time now working with 2 - 4 cams. A couple of days ago I finally had a need for more cams so I fired up the VASST InfinitiCAM. Even better than the US 2 multicam plug! Very similar of course, but a few more features and I like the marker system of infinitiCAM better. I ran the 9-cam set with no problems. Other than the fact that I wish I had a smokin' hot dual cpu system...
