Multicam tracks in V8c and V9

I frequently shoot with 2 - 3 cameras, Sony V1E (PAL version of V1u).
Using one camera as "master", I sync the timecodes via firewire (TC Link) of the other cameras before shooting starts. I use a standard naming convention, eg. Cam n Tape n to label tapes and the same naming covention when capturing the tapes. When using multicam editing within Vegas Pro, clips would automatically be placed in seperate tracks and synchronised , i.e. up to Vegas Pro 8.0b. This has made life really simple and easy up to now.

However, I have found with Vegas 8.0c and now with both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions Of Vegas Pro 9 that it actually "drops" all of the events/clips on the same video and audio tracks, even synchronising it on the same track! Enable Multicam Edit is not selected at this point in time. Normally it is a matter of selecting all relevant clips, selecting Tools>Multicamera>Layout Tracks Using Media Timecode.

I cannot find anything in the manual that has changed?? Anybody else experiencing the same problem?

This is going to be difficult to prove, however this is what I encountered and how I solved the problem.

In the project media tab, right clicking on the media, the "Tape Name" field is a blank. This normally contains the "Tape Name" when capturing video footage. By inserting the Tape Name it resolved the problem, i.e. creating multiple synchronised tracks.
