Multichannel audio with video recording

glen-t wrote on 4/9/2020, 8:39 AM

Is it possible to record multiple audio channels at the same time as video please? I can record video with one mic, but not 3 (I have all the outboard gear). I have successfully recorded the 3 mics but can't capture the video at the same time - it seems to be one or the other but not both!

With thanks

What are you using to capture video?

Thank for responding Dot. I have a go pro (which by itself is apparently working...

I meant, how are you transferring your video to the computer?

I take it that your mics are not connected through your GoPro since GoPro is only stereo through 1 mic - onboard or via the 3.5mm plug in the latest version via the additional media bundle. Maybe you could explain in much more detail about how your video/audio tech is arranged.

Ah, sorry. I wasn't clear. I'm wanting to record the video at the same time as the audio. The camera is connected via USB. I can't record the video in isolation and then transfer it to vegas....

Does that help?!??

Former user wrote on 4/9/2020, 9:14 AM

Vegas does not capture video in real time from USB, only Firewire. So no, there is no way to what you want to do.

Hi.

If I go File/Capture Video, the built in Capture dialogue opens and I can record to that. If I understand you correctly, this is independent to Vegas and so recording the video in this manner with Audio at the same time is impossible. I Need to move to another platform I think!

With huge thanks Dot

Most PCs sold these days, do not have a Firewire connection, optical drives are fading away as well.
