Multiple Device Effect on VMS

Does anyone have any experience on having more than one device on a firewire card. I am considering adding more storage by an external harddrive. I currently have about 320 gigs of storage. The hard drive would be connected by firewire. I currently have my capture device connected through the multiple port firewire card. Would adding an external hard drive by firewire affect video capture?

I have an external harddrive connected by firewire already. But it is connected through the six pin firewire port that came on the computer. If I add another external hard drive, would it be better to connect the capture device through the firewire port that is separate from the multiple port firewire card or through one of the ports on the multi-port firewire card? Or perhaps it doesn't make any difference?

Thanks,
HaroldC

From reports i've seen in here it shouldn't make any difference. The only thing i've seen people recommend is that you do not connect the camcorder to one of the daisychain ports on the external drives. Even then it *should* be ok, but sometimes causes a few hiccups.
