Multiple Event Changes

I'm sure there is an easy way to do this, but I'm having a hard time figuring it out.

I've got a series of some 50 stills on a Video track that are each of 6 second duration. I want to change all 50 to 4 seconds to match the length of my audio event.

How can I easly change them all without the tedious effort of individual changes.

Thanks in Advance,
...Jerry

There is no way to do this without using a script. I have a free script called SetEventLengthAndCrossfade.js that will do exactly what you want. It’s available from the VASST Script repository under the author Johnny (Roy) Rofrano. There is also a tool called Ultimate S that will do many Photo Montage tasks like Pan and Scan and Transition presets that you can purchase. (it also does a whole lot more than just Photo Montages) There is a 15-day free trial available on the VASST web site as well. Either will do what you want.

Check out Ultimate S if you're doing Photo Montages. You can use it free on this project and see if you think its worth the money. I think it will save you a lot of time. It even has a Fit To Music function, which seems to be what you're looking for.

Render the block out as a new track. Then you can shrink it with the cntl key and drag. Of course all your pan, crop, effects will also have their timing shrunk.

If you haven't done anything to them, you could re-import them and set the default length to 4 seconds for stills.

You can do an accumaltive Copy PAste change within Edit Detqils View:

1/- Change 1 event

2/- Copy this to next in EDV

3/- Select 1 & 2 Copy Paste to the next 2 events

4/- Select 1,2,3,4 COPY and then PAste to events 5,6,7,8

5/- Select 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and then Copy Paste to 9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16 .. . think that is about right!

. . this is quickly doable . . and yes scripts is another SANE way . . hwever . . the SMART way . .

I use SlideShowToMArkers script that allows one to throw stills at an already Marker set up. You want tio change against a new set of markers? Then you re set your markers - say by tapping oout M at different beat intervals - and you got another option there too!

You guys have reminded me that there’s a much easier way of doing this:

1. Right-click the first image and choose Select Events to End from the context menu
2. Press the G key to group the images
3. Use Ctrl+Drag on the right end of the last image to resize the entire group to match the end of the music. (or any length you want)

I’m so use to using scripts that sometimes I forget a few basic editing commands will do the same thing. Of course, resizing like this also resizes the transitions. So if you want the transitions to stay the same length of time, you really need to use a script.

[edit] changed alt+drag to ctrl+drag. my bad.

That's exactly what I was looking for, but after playing with this sequence for a bit, I think you need to use a Cntl+Drag, rather than an Alt+Drag - correct?

Ouch! Yes, Ctrl+Drag is the ticket. (now where did I put my spectacles?) I'll update my post. Thanks,
