Multiple Loops possible?

I'm not sure if this is possible with the DVD medium, but this is what I'd like to do:

I've got a live action stage performance that has a projected video element. There are 60 or so movie segments that need to play in a loop as performance times can vary. Once a visual or audio cue happens, I'd like to hit the Next button and jump to the next movie/clip on the disc which in turn starts looping.

I've tried changing end actions of clips to themselves, but preparing the DVD gives warnings about orphaned objects. The DVD preview's next button does nothing, it wont jump to the next clip. I have two DVD players - one plays the disc as I'd like, the other doesn't (which ignores the next button). I suspect what I've made is a non-standard DVD and one of the players just happens to be more loose in the rules.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Simple suggestion: use the DVD player that works!

This task is probably much better performed on a software player such as some sort of VideoJockey or VJ software. Such software will have controls for doing exactly these sorts of things. Run it on a laptop and feed the projector from the laptop's video out port.

Lots of projection software also will have this capability. The program we use at our church lets you specify events made up of in and out points on the DVD and you can set each event to loop indefinitely. Press the down arrow and it jumps to the next event and starts playing it. The looping is perfectly glitch-free too, which you seldom get with a physical DVD player.

Make each video a MENU with a hidden NEXT button. The next button takes you to the next MENU which is actually your video. You can set MENUs to loop forever until an action is taken.

Thanks for the suggestions - I actually found another solution that works perfectly on any DVD player I've tried, and all the software players as well. A simple invisible button over video with a link to the next movie element works great for exiting the loops. Just hit enter on the remote/player/keyboard.

that is pretty much what I suggested. By adding an invisible button, you changed it to a menu. glad it works.

Enjoy.
