Multiple Recording Passes with VV 3.0

I do multitrack audio recording in mostley passes of 8 and every software that I use (Vegas Video,Sonar 2.0 xl,cool edit pro, etc.) won`t line up in sync with the first 8 tracks and so on but they are very close. I am using 98 se and I wonder if that is the problem or should I go with Windows XP home addition. Vegas was my first software packaged with my delta 1010 sound card and I am very fond of it thats why I went ahead and upgraded to VV 3.0. I want to be able to use VV 3.0 for recording before I go out and buy a stand alone system for multitracking. Has anyone had this type of problem and if so what did you do to solve it or what should I do to solve mine.

The syncing is probably more related to the Latency in your soundcard and the speed of your processor. The operating system will not affect this much, other than maybe providing better drivers for your soundcard. Some of the audio software allows you to enter a latency amount and will automatically shift the new recorded tracks by that much to keep them in sync.
