MultiTrack Issues?

Does anybody else out here get skips in the digital audio
when multitracking thru Vegas or latency on the playback
with Acid when using a lot of loops? I've got a powerful
pc, but my sound card TASCAM PCI822 doesn't have win2k
drivers so I'm stuck at 128 meg of ram. Does anybody know
how to tweek 98SE to get the best performance of DA
(besides the virtual memory trick)? I really like this
software (even tho my password for this site that they gave
me is something like bigbadfunkytroll or something.....hmm

Besides the dual processor DAWe in the studio, I have VV
installed on a test machine in my home office, a
PIII800/256 RAM that I use to install the latest software
and driver upgrades before risking them on the studio DAW.

VV, as well as WaveLab, gapped badly when first installed
on this relatively fast box.

Lowering the acceleration of the video card and kicking up
the playback buffer to about .81 cured the problem.

YMMV, but you might give those two things a try and see if
it helps.
