Multitrack Video with One Audio Track

I am looking for advice on how to multitrack video clips while keeping only one audio track for the duration of the video using Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13.

I.e. - starting with an interview clip, cut to b-roll clips with the same audio of the first interview clip remaining and no sound from the b-roll clips, cut back to the interview clip.

I have watched a bunch of instructional videos telling me to insert composite envelopes, but that capability does not seem to exist on this version of the software.

Is there a way to do this using MSP 13.0?

Thanks for any help!

If you don't have composite envelopes then you can split the upper video track at the points where you want to transition. You can pull down the top edge of the video in the parts you want to eliminate to make it transparent, or simply delete that part. If you want to fade rather than cut then add fades to the trimmed in & out points. You can also drag a transition onto the fade, but it doesn't always work as you'd expect when transitioning from one track to another.

As far as handling the audio, just mute the b-roll audio track.

RE: B-roll audio track

You didn't say ... but I will assume that there *is* B-Roll audio ... you just don't want it to end up in the final render. Leaving it in the project (but muted) lets you more easily sync up the main and B-roll clips by adjusting left to right until the waveforms match up. NOTE: depending on your cameras and how long the clips are just because you sync at the beginning .. does not mean it will stay synced later on.
