Multitracking in Vegas

Hi folks. My name is Steve and I'm new to the forum. I have Vegas LE that came with Acid Pro 3.0. I don't really understand how to use it yet, but I'm wondering about something. Is this program REALLY designed for multitrack recording? In the limited exploring I've done, I get the impression that you have to record one track at a time, THEN you have the ability to mix them and ultimately render them to a finished project. Is this true? I was hoping I could record several tracks at once, ie. a real bass guitar, guitar, keyboard, vocal etc. I get the feeling it really doesn't have multitrack recording ability unless you're mixing everything from an external mixer, and then routing it to the sound card's input. If this is the case, would a different sound card or a different version of Vegas be the solution? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Steve

You can record as many simultaneous tracks as you want with Vegas (within hardware limitations). You have to have a sound card with more than just stereo inputs though. There are several on the market (I am partial to Aardvark products like the Directpro or the Aark24), an external mixer is nice as well.
