music stutters when with "credit roll" events

whenever music is arranged on the timeline to coincide with any "credit roll" events (from "text and backdrop" tab), it stutters. as the music keeps playing it will stop stuttering as soon as the "credit roll" event segues into scene footage events. i don't see any levels peaking out. this happen to anyone else? will it render/ burn this way as well?

~thanks

this may suggest a memory issue. I have had some preview issues in the past - not your specifically - but stuttering in the preview - it was too many background programs running for me. when I shut them down things worked fine. Also remember that the preview screen does not neccesarily represent exactly what you will see on and hear on your tv. There may be small differences the way it looks and the timing of events. If shutting down background programs doesn't fix your problem outright, I would suggest you make a small program with this apparent problem and burn it and see what happens. Ya gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet.

p.s. when I do a big burn I shut down anything and everything that is not helping vegas do its job including disconnecting from network, antivirus, spyware, screensaver etc. and have set personal "record times" (as in short) by doing so.

omelet --- ha ha. like that.

yeah i'll have to see if it ends up that way after burning. but my whole computer is devoted to VMS (& DVD architect). the only other program on it is real player. not even internet. and i only do one movie at a time and then clean house. so the stuttering is puzzling. and as i examined it more closely it seems to be only for the "header" title portion of the "credit roll" events. i wonder if this is a clue.

thanks for your response!

it doesn't render with the stutter.

You have a buffering issue. Your system can't play it back. It might even be the vid card. Try slowing your vid card back to 75% in the display prefs. (windows, not VMS)

this is usually because your processor is getting bogged down trying to generate the credit roll in real-time and play music at the same time. you can "pre-render" a section of video by selecting it and using the tools/pre-render video menu.

If You look under the preview window - during previewing - it shows after "Display" the frame rate in Fps - depending on your processor, memory, other programs running programs the frame rate is mostly about 25 (PAL) or 30 (NTSC) but whenever a crossfade effext or other things that require some CPU-power is previewed the Fps goes down on my Pentium 2,8 GHz with 1 GB of memory some times to around 5 Fps - and then also the music/sounds stutter.
This is because the PC is not strong enough to render 100% real time.
When I need a better Fps, i.e. when making the still-pictures change to the music, I set the priority of the VMS to High (ctrl-alt-del processes, right click, priority) - and this helps pretty much - but not 100%. For a near 100% soloution we would need a much faster PC.

BTW the change of priority can also be useful during rendering - when you set it to "low" -for the Vegas-program just rendering- you do not get slowed down/stuttering in the other tasks you do. And it has no influence on the quality of the finished rendered video.
