SmartSound is the easiest to use because the songs are already composed and you’re just selecting a style and length. ACID requires more time and skill and it helps if you actually have an ear for music. You can be much more creative in ACID. If you have no creativity or free time, however, I’d stick with SmartSound. Then you can always download royalty free music from freeplay.com. It’s quite good but you don’t get to control the length as easily and may have to cut and splice it to get it to fit.
Thanks for the reply. I have Pinnacle Studio so I do have access to Smartsounds via it, but was thinking about buying the "full" version of smartsound or Acid. I'm not really very talented in the music area so I may try them both (using Studio's version when in a hurry) and maybe I can learn a little something and get better using Acid over time.
How would you compare the audio quality of both - are they comparable?
Rick
Technically the sounds from SmartSound are 22KHz for Pinnacle Studio and MovieMaestro, while SonicFire Pro uses 44KHz sounds. ACID uses whatever wave files you feed it, which are usually 44Khz. I really can’t tell the difference because I only use SmartSound for background music and I don’t have a home theater system so on my TV speakers they both sound the same.
