MusicVid's Better Method Question

Since the MusicVid's original

video, Handbrake has had some changes to the parameters and some of these parameters do not line up with the original video settings.

Is there a recommended settings for the new Handbrake that match the quality of the original Handbrake settings?

Some of these Handbrake setting are not available in the new version:

Better Method
Levels FX: Computer RGB to Studio RGB
Install: AVID DNxHD Codec, Quicktime 7.6.8
Render as:
Quicktime 7, Custom, Video rendering quality: High (Best),
Video Tab: Default Template (uncompressed),
Video Format: Avid DNxHD Codec, Configure Tab: Color Levels: 709, Resolution: 1080i/ 59.94 DNxHD 145 8bit (I use 1080p/29.9 DNxHD)
Check: Web optimized, Anamorphic: None
Handbrake Settings: Tools, Options: uncheck Always use iPod/iTunes friendly....
Video Filters Tab: Decoumb Default
Video Tab: Video Codec: H.264 (x264), Frame Rate (FPS): 29.97 <-Same as the project render
Select Constant quality, move slider to RF:19
Audio Tab: Bitrate 256
Advanced Tab: Check: CABAC Entropy Coding,
Uncheck: 8x8 Transform,
Uncheck Weighted P-Frames,
Pyramidal B-Frames: OFF,
Deblocking -2, -1
Save preset: Click: Add, Name: Youtube 720, Picture Settings: Use Picture Size: Source Maximum, Select: Use Picture Filters, Add

Good question; I have the newer Handbrake on a work computer and I will post some updated settings this weekend or possibly Friday.

One thing that is nontrivial is adding some peak bitrate constraints to reduce stuttering of HD on YouTube playback.

Thanks for that link.
Might try the newer Helix (1.3) for a 4K intermediate to Handbrake 0.10.
You'll still need the levels step in Vegas..
(Have not tested at my end).

Thanks musicvid10. At the moment I am not so worried about 4K and levels; I only use it for my personal use because it's limited to 30p on the AX100.

Oh no, I was in a 4K project I just don't care that much about the levels for the 4K projects, its for my own and family's consumption and they cant even see the difference between SD and HD. At the moment I don't use 4K for anything commercial. That may however change very soon, I have an upcoming project for training videos which I might shoot in 4K 30p because it will involve green screen too.

Here is a conservative Handbrake encode for Youtube, and also compatible with all versions of Vegas. It's barely above Baseline, but has most of the compression of Main. Youtube accepts High Profile, but takes longer to process. If Web Optimized is not checked, Youtube takes almost twice as long to process.

Anything I don't mention can be left at the NORMAL defaults.

General Settings:
Web Optimized - Checked
Custom Crop 0-0-0-0
Decomb = Default (if source is interlaced)
Constant Frame Rate
Same as Source
RF 20
Use Advanced Controls - Checked
FDK AAC
320 Kbps

Raising vbv-bufsize and vbv-maxrate improves fast motion detail but increases the chance of stuttering on slower systems / connections (but not necessarily Youtube).
