mxf video stream not working in vegas 9

My mxf files do not work in vegas 9 but is ok in vegas 8. I have tried mxf files transcoded from my ex3 with clipbrowser software and also redered my own mxf files but nothing is working in ver 9. I can drag the mxf file to the timeline but only the audio stream is accepted, I cant get the video stream. All mxf files plays fine in VLC media player. Also if I check the file properties from within vegas it has the metadata for the video stream (see below). But when I mark the file in the explorertab, the status message att the bottom of the explorer window says: 'Video: Stream attributes could not be determined; MPG-2 HD, 35Mbps(VBR)-HQ'

I have tried uninstalling vegas 9. I have tried version 9, 9a and 9b. No change.

The same files works fine on vegas 8. I have tried 2 different computers. I'm on xp and use 32bit.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I can't image what you're doing wrong. The EX3's files work flawlessly for me in version 9b.

Niether do I. If I do the same thing in version 8 it's fine. Also if I take the mp4 files from the ex3 straight into vegas I get both the video and audio, but if I transcode the mp4 file to mxf with clipbrowser I don't get the video stream.

I can live with using the mp4 file, but I really need the mxf files to work as I use them as proxies for my 5D and 7D.

An update:

After reinstalling vegas and quicktime and trying other things I'm now able to open ex3 files from clipbrowser. I did try a lot of stuff (uninstalling things) so I really don't know what did it.

So now the problem is narrowed down to the mxf files that 9b build 772 produces. I can se that when it's rendered at the end, the progressbar makes a sudden jump to the end. Also when I open this file in vegas 8, there are black frames at the end. Could it be a bug when rendering mxf files that skips the last few seconds and also don't finish writing the file properly?

No, it's not a bug. If it were, everyone with EX cameras , CB, and Vegas would be experiencing what you are.

It's a glitch in your workflow or your system or both.

"... but I really need the mxf files to work as I use them as proxies for my 5D and 7D."

Is this where the problem is occurring?

I've had exactly the same problem.
I updated to the latest Clipbrowser and updated V9 to version b, V8 to version c and thankfully the problem has gone away. Don't ask me which one of those steps cured the problem but I sure can confirm there was a gremlin in the system somewhere.

I'm still converting XDCAM to MXF for V9. Only way to get the T/C from the camera. I hope this gets fixed.

Bob, which version of ClipBrowser do you have?

Mine is 2.05.01.009. Is there a newer one?

That's the same as the one I'm running. Only downloaded and installed it recently. Pretty sure it's the latest. It seems a tad faster than the previous one I was using to export MXF.

The ex3 files are fine now. But still have problems with mxf generated by vegas 9b.

Can someone confirm that they can open a 5D or 7D .mov file in vegas 9b and render it out as a 422 50mbps .mxf file and the use that file in vegas? This would help me to know if it's just me... I have tried it on two different computers and the result is the same on both; vegas 8 makes ok files but vegas 9 is not.

Thanks

Update:

I just got message from support saying this is a known issue and it should be fixed in next release.
