My Metronome has gone crazy! help!

Anytime I change my BPM speed under Properties---->Ruler, it looks fine at first (70 BPM, nice and slow), but after I hit "play", the BPM goes to 220! without fail, everytime! Any ideas why this is happening and how I can set a slower BPM and keep it there?

Page 203 of the manual is good reading. Set the BPM in the project properties box, audio tab.

Thanks but I already know how to set the BPM, and it's in the "ruler" tab in vegas 3.0, not the audio tab. Anyway, my problem is that after I set and apply the desired tempo, after I hit play, it jumps to 240bpm! for no apparent reason. Heeelp!

Windows XP
Athlon 1700
KT266a chipset
Darla 24 with 6.0 WDM drivers

Are you using the MTC sync?
