Bradley welcome to Sony Vegas. I know you edit at a studio and have moved from xxxxx to Sony Vegas

Enjoy my Buddy

1. go to Options. Preferences. Video …set dynamic ram preview 1024
2. right click on preview window and uncheck scale video to fit preview window

This will have no effect UNLESS you also tell your chum how to create a Build RAM Preview. I didn't read this in his OP?

Maybe I'm incorrect on this? I always thought this was for BUILDING RAM Previews? Ha! . . . Reading the Help file isn't too clear for me.

ah, does he even have 1gb ram?

it's always helpful to list your pc's specs....

Brahil01

fill in your specs like ram quad core etc

if you edit on a Mac rather say you wear women’s underwear, its less embarrassing

As far as I know Grazie is correct, dynamic RAM preview is only for exactly what the names says, building dynamic RAM previews.
You can force Vegas to build one of the looped region or if you playback the looped region it will slowly build and preview fps will gradually improve.

From my experience with V9 reducing the amount of dynamic preview RAM will improve playback performance, probably because it frees up RAM for Vegas to buffer *something*.

Oh and also be aware, audio plugins can eat up a lot of CPU cycles and impact preview performance as can having the video scopes active.

Getting back to the original question...

How big is the PNG file? i.e., what are it's dimensions? What project setting are you using? How are you compositing it with the Noise Texture? If the PNG is a lot larger than your project, you are asking Vegas to scale it down at 30 resizes per second. Depending on how you are compositing and if any other effects are applied like Height Map or Bump Map, you could very well get lag in your output. Use RAM preview (Shift+B) may be the only way to see it smoothly.
