My V9 Trial wont render as AVI using DV templates

RedEyeRob wrote on 6/1/2009, 2:56 PM
I have purchased and used V3,4,5,6,7,8. I installed the V9 trial and I can't prerender or render anything as AVI in V9 using DV templates. It will render as avi to HD and uncompressed and YUV and will render using other formats like Mainconcept, wmv, etc.but not an AVI in NTSC or PAL using the DV template. My regular V8 works fine. Anyone else have this problem and resolved? I have seen some funky reports of failure to render different kind of files from a few people.

ALSO just accessing the custom video settings using AVI type for DV templates locks Vegas up but I can access the settings in any other format just fine. I tried unistalling and reinstalling. V8 is just fine in this regard as well.

I just tested. Put a NTSC DV clip on the timeline and then rendered a new NTSC DV clip to a new track. No problem.

Went back and applied a blur to the original. Repeated render to new track. No problem.

Rendered origianl from NTSCDV to PAL DV. No Prob.

Changed Project setting to PAL DV. Applied blur to PAL DV clip (created in previous step) and then rendered new PAL DV clip to new track. No problem except it's ugly.

There must be another detail that you haven't laid out yet.

No problems here in V8 Pro or V9 Pro.

Well it works fine installed on my laptop. I don't want to reinstall windows just for V9 but somthing must be screwy in my machine The fact it only affects that specific aspect of V9 is mystifying.

Hi Rob,

Don't get me wrong. If you say it doesn't work, it doesn't work. It's annoying sometimes to have everyone else pop up and say it does work but that sort of feedback should just be taken to mean that it can/should work and is probably fixable. There must be something funky going on with that particular install or with that machine.

The fact that 8 works and 9 doesn't on the same machine is interesting. There really shouldn't be a difference. I have both installed here. They don't seem to conflict but the list of issues people have had is pretty long, with also sorts of mixed experiences of thing s working for some and not for others.

There's a number of things in the Preferences that could, possibly, maybe have some impact on this. I gotta say it's probably a very long shot but worth a look into. Things like Ignore 3rd party codecs etc.

Bob.

There is no ignore 3rd party codec box in the preferences of V9. There is in V8.

I did a repair install of XP, upgraded video drivers and still no joy with V9, still wont render under the avi/dv templates but V8 still will.

It's been moved to the Internal preferences tab.

Well I did the BIG nasty and reformatted my C drive and installed OS from scratch, of course V9 renders just fine now. My render issue is gone, so are all my other programs.
