My Vegas Needs a MIDI Buddy

Any suggestions for standalone MIDI sequencing software that will play nicely on the same machine with VEGAS?

Currently I have VEGAS running on one PC and it's synced up with a 2nd PC that's running GigaStudio and Cakewalk 9 for MIDI sequencing. But I'm thinking it would be easier for me if my MIDI app was running on the same PC as VEGAS.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Rob

I haven't. I'm sure it would work but I'm just wondering if there are better MIDI options out there. Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 is pretty outdated!

I'm suprised that I can't find any nice stand-alone MIDI sequencing apps. They are all tied into other things like audio or notation.

I looked into Cubase, Sonar, Pro Tools, etc. Moving to an app with MIDI and AUDIO together is VERY tempting! However, Vegas is just so dang fast and simple to use that I hate to leave the platform, you know?

I edit in Sonar, but play MIDI in old Voyetra Digital Orchestaror Pro.

Not sure if it would synch up cos I just record the 'rendered' midi to an audio track....

Tracktion may be OK. I can't stand the piano roll editor, but in reality I don't use it much. You'd have to try the demo of course.

Voyetra now has Record Producer Midi for $ 24,95 :They have a demo which you can try...

Quite extensive features for midi, it's syncable and quite cheap, actually
Multi in and outs for midi, but no vsti instruments
(Actually it is an updated Digital Orchestrator Pro without the audio features)
