Just speculating … maybe Windows DVD comes with the full retail version rather than OEM, or its geo limited. I've got both 2015 free upgrade to W10 as well as on a recently bought Dell laptop with native W10 - no Windows DVD with either.
@Dexcon - Yup, that’s what I saw too. I installed one of the freebies, only to be confronted by a swarming mass of adverts. I uninstalled it faster than I opened it. Gone!
Win 10 has "Movies and TV", (the only name I see).I guess it is an 'updated' Win Media player for mindless folks. Playback is ok though.
Personally, I usually use and like MPC-HC, which I recall stands for "Media Player Classic- Home Cinema}. It also includes MediaInfo v17 (right-click a file for the pertinent info which has a 'save to text file' button. MPC has many options, preferences and functions settings. The UI is very 'clean' (uncluttered). It opens very fast on both 64 and 32 bit versions
VLC (VideoLAN) is another option, but the UI is not as 'clean' as MPC.

I didn't pay for it. It was installed in 2016 when I updated to Win10 probably.
