To be honest that's why I stopped using MyDVD. It insist on re-encoding the audio to uncompressed PCM which uses a lot more space. Apparently that is the actual standard but most DVD players will handle mpeg audio stream produced by VF. I switched to Ulead's Movie Factory which takes VF files with no fuss.
Thanks. I just recently found out that MYDVD 4.0 will not accept any MPEG2
file with a bit rate of 8.0 megs or larger without re-encoding.
You have to set the bit rate somewhere around 7 megs to get it to stop re-encoding. Big reason because
it re-encodes the audio to 48 kc sample and throws it onto the 8.0 megs
for a total of 9.0 or better and then says it will not accept your file
and then it re-encodes the video and you get the "jumps". 7.4 megs seems
to go in OK without re-encoding the video but it depends on the size of the
file (sound). If you keep your files within these parameters MYDVD works tits.
